when is it ok to say no at work
Ok….so you are working some dead end 9-5 or maybe you are a somebody and you have university degree. You may even be a doctor or lawyer. It seems the further we get in our development of society the further we lose ourselves. We all seem to go and punch the clock at the office while dealing with this down turn in the economy. At best our employers tell us “there are going to be some cut backs”. So what does this mean? Well for starters I guess the year end bonus just got cut.
Here is the harsh reality as jobs become more scarce and emplyers layoff more people, companies still expect to maintain the same earning that they had. The quick solution for all these companies is fire someone and maintain our revenue. Well on paper this sounds like a great idea. However what does this truly mean to most of us? You got it MORE WORK FOR LESS PAY! Think about it. How many of you are out there right now working at a company and taken on a bigger work load since the lay offs but got no increase in pay?
Why do we do this to ourselves? Has the progress and development that we have seen in the last 20 years supported our goals and visions. Was the new car in the driveway or that 15,000 dollar watch really worth the hours we logged? I dont know. The more I look into it the less motivated I seem to get. Especially since we all seem to be doing more for less. Here is the real kicker. Lets say we all stopped and decided enough was enough the companies we look for would look for another person that would be willing to do our old job. And that person once again helps to perpetuate the cycle.
Whats the solution?
