The next big thing in pro boxing

Andrei Arlovski turning pro boxer as early as April 11 2009? That very well could be the case according to Dan Raphael of ESPN. The former UFC heavyweight champ will be fighting on the undercard of Winky Wright vs Paul Williams at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Personally I fell the cross over from MMA to boxing this late in Arlovski’s career could be somewhat of a mistake. Granted his hands have looked extremely fast and sharp in his last 3 bouts. Boxing is and always will be the “sweet science”. Most pro boxers spend countless years perfecting the craaft, some starting as young at the age of 5. Growing with the sport the same way you grow with your height.

No one truly knows how well Arlovski will do and people can only speculate as to how long he can play in this arena. One has to wonder what kind of publicity stunt this is and if it will help to bring luster back to the once prestigous sport.
