I want to retire before 40
Well the title says it all, ” I want to retire befor 40″. Seriously…I just turned 31 this year and I came to the conclusion that I will not want to work past the age of 40. If I am forced to do so due to financial reasons I think I might end up in a mental institution. Everyday millions of us commute accross town to our average 9-5 jobs realizing…THIS SUCKS! How many of you out there actually enjoy what you do? Better yet how many of you out there actually get compensated with the appropriate amount of money that would entitle you to enjoy life the way it was meant to be enjoyed?
I might be going out on a limb here but I think that most people utterly hate their jobs and only go in due to having to pay the bills. If you are one of the lucky people that are rich or famous…well what can I say…GO F*** YOURSELVES! I think that I have come up with a way to beat the system and if you have stuck with the article so far you may want to try this. Tomorrow or whenever you build up the courage, just walk into your boss’s office and tell him to stick the job and minimal pay up his or her ass!
This is a crazy idea but the reality is that the corporations and business around the world can not and will not operate unless we the workforce decide to go in and plug those hours. So if anything we are all selling ourselves short by bending to what corporate America expects of us. Do I really have a point for this article….not really just thought it would make a few of you laugh.

Very interesting and amusing subject. I read with great pleasure.
Interesting and informative. But will you write about this one more?
thanks for the comments guys. i probably will write about these things more in the future.
Totally with you man. I used to love my job when I first started… now it’s 10 years later and it SUCKS. I never used to understand why people thought the Dilbert cartoon strips were so funny until the last 3 years of my career. I got so fed up and quit. At least they gave me a severance which is nice. So I’m almost 40 and do not intend to go back to the traditional workforce. Not sure what I’d like to do next but I’m well educated … I only need to generate $16k a year to contribute to household expenses. No income tax in my state. I could always go work at McDonalds and give the customers a hard time. HAHA! Don’t piss me off or I could spit in your burger… aah the power of the minimum wage worker. I could enjoy that for awhile… then move on to the next low wage job…. who knows I could pull a “Barbara Ehrenreich” and write a book about retired 30 somethings on min wage who actually enjoy life.
Lorelei i feel your pain trust me i really do. thats why i wrote this article. everyday i look around at friends and family members and for the most part they all look miserable. i think that if we all concentrated on the things we love as oppose to the money the monetary gains would become secondary and we really would be rich from the inside out, causing us to eventually really be rich.
