Scandalous People

Whats wrong with people? Do they not understand how irritating and annoying they are? Over the weekend I was reminded how scandalous and disgusting some people can be. In high school I had a friend we will call the fat greek guy. This cat was what you would considered spoiled. His parents pretty much gave his fat ass anything and everything from cars to money to clothing, you name it he had it. When fat greek went away to college his parents even bought him a condo and paid for all his expenses so he could concentrate on school. Needless to say since he was fat, lazy and spoiled, so he never finished his education and 4 years later returned home with no degree only to work flipping souvlakis at his fathers restaurant.

While the fat greek was away at college he managed to develop an insatiable appetite for vices he could not afford. Somehow he managed to convince his parents that this type of behavior was completely normal and ok. A pattern began to form and never changed. Years later he was still up to his old tricks, sponging off his parents, indulging in his vices and alienating friends by borrowing money or calling them with stupid money scams promising ridiculous returns that could never be made. Most of us knew what he was up to and never paid much attention to him or basically wrote him off as an idiot.

The fat greek has also had these vivid imagination about wanting to be some sort of mafia king pin. The reality is the only orders he ever gave were done at Burger King. Due to his vices he managed to get involved with the wrong types of people and ended up owing a substantial amount of money. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 50,000. Once again by deceiving his parents he was bailed out and managed to escape without learning any valuable lessons life has to offer. This has been happening for years and his fat ass never seems to learn anything.

Last weekend my friends and I were barraged with a series of phone calls from him. The phone calls started at 6:30 pm all the way to 10 at night. This time the fat greek has the audacity to ask us to wire him money out of town because he is in some sort of bad situation. I know what some of you are thinking, “maybe he was in some form of trouble”? The reality is this scandalous prick has been up to things like this for over 10 years. WE DONT WANT ANY PART OF IT! Its time this guy pulled his life together and stopped depending on other people to take care of him. Do people like this ever learn? For anyone who knows of, or has a friend similar to this please do them a favor…DONT GIVE THEM ANY MONEY!!!  You are not doing these types of people any help you will only be hindering their growth. Give a man a fish and feed him for a meal teach a man to fish and feed him for life.

Bring on the Recession

With congress voting NO on the 700 Billion dollar relief hard times are coming. All indicators look to be pointing towards a recession.  Many of us who are employed grinding away at a regular 9-5 maybe walking towards a living hell until the economy decides to correct itself.  The question we need to ask ourselves now is How bad will it get? I sit around every night watching the days events recapped on CNN. Trying to make some sense of what is going on. Things seem to be more and more confusing. Interviews being done with panels of supposed experts from financial institutions tell us not to worry and have confidence in the markets but when you are taking 20-40 percent hits, even the people who look at the glass half full start to be a little pessimistic.

The reality is no one has any idea how bad the situation will get. The titanic has just hit the iceberg and we are all into drown. How is it possible that this all stems from bad mortgages? Banks and other financial institutions had a fiduciary duty to make sure that they money was not to be lent to people that did not and should not have qualified. Instead there were corrupt CEO’s and high ranking management that looked to make fat bonuses and risk the finiancial safety of everyone. Now with economy being flushed down the crapper there might be a chance that these same people are entitled to their bonus checks??? Are you kidding me?!?! I hope the FBI and SEC find out who all parties are that were responsible for this and PROSECUTE them to the FULL EXTENT OF THE LAW! If beloved Martha Stewart can do time for trading 250,000 dollars worth of stock, I cant wait to see what happens for the billions of dollars lost. Gordon Gecko from the movie Wallstreet once said “two things that are sure in life…death and taxes”. With the way the market looks I would not be surprised to see an increase in either one.

Serra fights Hughes sometime in 09

Although the exact date has not been released the grudge match between these two welter weights has been confirmed. This should be an interesting matchup since both fighters are recovering from injuries. Hughes from the knee injury and Serra from the herniated disc.  Styles make fights but so does hatred and this fight lacks neither one.

Hughes is a wrestler with tremendous top game and good ground and pound mixed with some submissions. Serra is no slouch off his back and has excellent submissions being a Renzo Gracie bjj black belt. Both men seem to have improved striking skills. With all the talent they posses the injuries both have incurred lead me to believe we are in store for a slug fest. Mobility in the knee of Hughes will have some effect in how well he shoots for a takedown and Serra must still be suffering from some loss of flexibility.

The Terror has been quoted as saying he wants to spend more time wrestling in the training room. I do not know if this is a mistake but I feel he should stick to what he is good at. Takedown defense and a brawl and sprawl seems to work well against Hughes. Proven by guys like Georges (rush) St Pierre  and Thiago (the pitbull) Alves. Serra definitely has along way to come if his striking skills are ever going to compare to any of those fighters, but he does have some heavy hands.

I hate to give predicitions since mma has this funny way of always proving me wrong. But I can say this with confidence, the UFC marketing machine will hype this fight and as long as the fighter show up we should be in store for some fireworks.

Reality TV Sucks

Why is this stuff on there air? I am sick of seeing shows like “Survivor” or “The Apprentice”. Mark Burnett if you come across this article “STOP MAKING THIS CRAP”!!! Seriously you have made your money, move on or make something for the boob tube that is worth watching. What happened to shows like Friends or Seinfeld? There use to be a time where you could turn on the television and watch a show and laugh or just sit back and veg out.

This is the exact recipe for how a network makes a reality show. Step 1 offer a cash prize of a million dollars. Step 2 have some challenges for you contestants to complete. Step 3 add some staged drama. Step 4 use some form of elimination. If you follow these exact steps you are guaranteed to make a hit show. Well I for one am sick of it. I would rather spend the next year watching Threes company 24 hours a day then watch another reality show. How is it called reality when you have some one following you around with a camera?

Donald Trump Bad for MMA

Looks like the Trump has managed to get his fat head and sticky hands into the world of MMA. Although I do not blame him for wanting to get a piece of the pie, I don’t know if I exactly like the idea of having his involvement in a sport that has yet to be appreciated by the baby boomers. We all know that comb over Trump does bring some assets to the ring. Money, the Trump Taj Mahal and an over the top Reality TV personality. But he also brings some negatives. What the hell does this guy think he knows about MMA and what we the fans are really looking for when we watch the fights.

The other day I saw an interview with the Don on TV. He was giving a press conference, talking about his plans with Affliction all of a sudden he stops to take a phone call from no other than Andrea Arlovski. Staged you say? No…Mr Trump would never try to pull something like that. Of course he would this is what this idiot is famous for! Fans who like watching the sport want to see big fights. The whole reason MMA evolved was to see styles vs styles fights. That way there would be a clear cut answer to who reigns supreme in a full contact fight. We are not looking for another WWE and we sure as hell are not excited to see another Vince Mcmahon. Trump offers nothing to the sport accept fat pockets to perhaps take on the UFC.

News flash to Donald Trump… stick to what you are good at that means wearing makeup on your down sliding reality show ‘The Apprentice” or raising funds to develop commercial property.  If you really are here to make the sport better, start by putting fights back in the cage and developing serious weight categories. Another plus would be to look for some cross promos.

Fight fans around the world brace yoursleves for what might possibly be the fight of the decade. Ok that might be a bit of a stretch but Oscar De La Hoya vs Manny Pacquiao does have the possibility of being a super fight. In a sport where great fights are far and few between I am almost sure that most of us boxing fans are waiting to click buy on our pay per view menus.

Although I am not quite sure why Oscar would take this fight I can only see good things in store for Pacquiao. It seems like there might be some disagreements in between the two camps. Everything from glove sizes to purse splits. Could this fight be in store for some troubled waters?

I wonder what Oscar was thinking when he made this fight happen. From my perspective it looks like a hand picked opponent. Why would he want to drop so much wieght to come down and fight a smaller man?? Money always plays a factor in sports but there were other fights that would have made just as much, plus rekindled some interest in a sport that has been riddled by politics and suspicions. Miguel Cotto or Antonio Margirato are two names that come to mind for possible opponents. One fighter looks to say farewell while another faces the toughest challenge of his career. Guess we will wait to see what happens on what is going to be a historic night.

Star Wars “The Force Unleashed”

Anybody get the feeling we all bought a star wars version of “God of War”? Not quite sure what designers were thinking about when they made this game but if there are copyrights for how video games play and feel someone is getting sued. Not to worry I am sure George Lucas has made more than enough money from the Star Wars franchise that he is probably sitting on a beach some where drinking liquor out of a cocanut cup with a toothpick umbrella.

Reviews seem to be somewhat mixed on this one. The game seems to be a love or hate between gamers. Although I am not a huge Star Wars fan the force unleased has met my expectations for what is considered a better than average hack and slash. Still feeling my way through the game I am sure that there will be more challenging levels and funky environments to come.

The game starts off by you having full control and functionality over no other that Darth Vader. You have to admit its pretty cool to have control over the baddest ass mother F*@#$& in the whole universe.  The only mistake I made was not going to the control panel and finding out how to do the combos correctly. Instead I resorted to NES style button smashing to hack my way through the first level.

Another thing that is enjoyable about the game is that there is no preschool tutorial that is mandatory to complete when you power up your system. From the word go your thrown into a war zone filled with giant Wookies to battle.

I would recommend this game to anyone that has a 6 foot cardboard cut out of Chewba standing in their living room, or if you just want to kill some time.

Mercedes 600 Guardian (Mercedes Benz S-Guard)

I found out about this vehicle by pure fluke. My fiance has been reading some weird vampire books called the twilight series written by a Stephenie Meyer. In the final book (Breaking Dawn) there is a mention of a Mercedes 600 Guardian. Let me just start by saying this car is nothing less than AMAZING. The Guardian is based off the S 600 V12. For the average enthusiast the car appears to be a regular Mercedes. There is nothing regualr about this vehicle.

Watch Mercedes Benz S-Guard video

There has been no specs or pricing released that I have been able to find, but by watching the clip you will notice the car is bullet proof withstands small explosions and even manages to block out poisonous gas. This is an absolute must have for all you CIA, MI5 and MI6 wannabees. Not only can you know roll in style, you also have the ability roll through a war zone while doing it.

Cheaper Oil Prices

Filed Under (Politics & Economy, Rants & Raves) by Stiffler on 26-09-2008

Looks like we maybe seeing some cheaper fuel prices in the near future. I recently read an article on msn from an analyst stating we may see $65 barrels of oil in the next year. Although this seems like a stretch the price of crude has come down significantly in the past month. Not sure if this is due to the speculators moving out or the US starting to monitor their consumption more appropriately.  Either way any relief we see from the pumps is welcome.

The thing that drives me nuts is how the government keeps telling us that we need to break away from our dependency on foreign oil. Yet they never seem to do anything about it. Seems like they are more concerned over how much money they can squeeze from taxes and contributions from companies like Haliburton and the other oil tycoons.

The US imports over 10 Million barrels of oil a day according to the EIA http://www.eia.doe.gov/basics/quickoil.html. Yet talk still remains about our dependency  on “foreign oil”. What I find particularly strange out of this situation is Canada has the second largest pool of oil in the world; but we refuse to purchase oil from them…why you ask? Well apparently the oil is not high grade enough. Sounds ridiculous considering other places like China and India are all to happy to consume and purchase the fuel from Canadians.

Given the fact that places like Dubai and Saudi Arabia are pumping more than ever and there is no indication of them slowing down production the arguement has to be, ” its a lot harder extract the crude oil”. That very well maybe so but the question remains does the extraction cost warrant the price? CEO’s from these major petroleum companies have their salaries and compensation tied directly into packages that reflect the share price of their stock, leads me to believe that there is more than meets the eye when we are talking about the price of oil.

I hope the governement looks into this more carefully and stops trying to break the backs of the middle class so the rich can get richer.

How to make your man happy

Filed Under (Rants & Raves) by Stiffler on 25-09-2008

Well its about time that women started to think about the things that makes us guys happy. Ladies if you have ever had this question on your mind I will be more than happy to explain this to you. Let me start by saying we are simpletons. We dont require very many things. If you can fulfill these few simple tasks we will be more than happy and will reciprocate by doing the things that you like, need or want.
So here is the list:

1) Clean up the house
Just so we are all on the same page I think that it is important to cover these 4 things with some level of importance. Cleaning up the house. When attempting to do this it is crucial for you to remember this means more than putting away your own clothes and shoes. In 1905 there was strange machine created for the purpose of picking up loose dirt and dust in the house. Back then it was referred to as the sweeping machine today it is commonly referred to as a VACUM CLEANER. Now I know this apparatus may seem a little strange or perhaps scary to some of you ladies out there; but I swear it’s a 100% safe and will not chip or break your nails.

Second thing to touch on is Laundry. Here comes the tricky part, you must separate the colors from the whites. Sounds crazy right? But necessary. Its simple just divide the clothes into two piles. Once separated you can begin to load the machine and add soap. For those of you who are attempting to do this for the first time do not worry, when the machines stops washing and there is no more water in the basin we can move to the next step. “Putting the clothes in the dryer” all you have to do here is remove the wet clothes from the washing machine and place them into the dryer with a Bounce sheet. I know it’s a lot to ask for but I promise it’s easier than it sounds. Now that we have been through the process of washing and drying the clothes, IT IS MANDATORY TO FOLD THEM AND PUT THEM AWAY! Do not skip this last step otherwise the task can not be considered complete.

Now that we have covered the vacuuming laundry we can move on to something a little more complicated but still tons of fun D-I-S-H-E-S that’s right dishes. Through the gift of modern technology we now have a machine that will do anything for us. For those of you out there that are a little slow I am talking about a “Dish Washer”. Similar in convenience to its appliance siblings this machine allows the individual to do this task with a touch of a button or turn of a knob. The beauty of doing dishes is that you do not need to sort, separate, wash or dry. The machine does everything for you. The only requirement is that you load and unload. Once the dishes are clean simply remove them and put them away in the cupboard. It’s that simple.

2) Make our meals
Since the dawn of man many believe that food is the one thing that brings us all together. Why is it that nowadays people take fore granted how important it is to have a meal?

Now it would be ridiculous for me to say women need to cook 3 square meals a day for us; however is it really asking too much for them to at least make dinner? And I am not talking about some fruity tooty tofu and veggies. We want a nice slab of RED meat and some form of starch. For garnish and color purposes please feel free to get creative and put on some veggies. The whole process of making a meal takes no more than 30 minutes. And please don’t cheat by feeding us Hungry man or calling for take out. Our pallets are much to sophisticated for you to pull something off like that.

3) Fulfill our primal needs (SEX)
Ok I think that this one is self explanatory. You can never be too sure though so I will break it down so the average laymen (oops that might being sexist again so should I say waymen) can understand. Do not try to use this as a weapon or some sort of bargaining chip! That is just wrong. A guy would never say to you “honey not tonight I have a headache” or better yet “maybe tomorrow I am not in the mood”. We at least have the courtesy to give you sex anytime you want.
At the very least women should reciprocate.

4) Do not complain about GOLF
The game of golf was invented some time in the 15th century. It was originally played by gentlemen of the court with crude sticks fashioned out of wood to hit a rock from one end of the field to the other. Sometime around 1750 Golf evolved into what we commonly see on TV today.

Women were guaranteed the right to vote with the passage of the Nineteenth amendment to the United States constitution in 1920. According to my calculations, the right to vote for women was granted 420 years after the first game of Golf was developed. The common definition for golf today is G-oing O-ut L-adies F-orbiden. The golf course has turned into the modern day board room. I know it might be hard for some of you to understand, but many a deal and contract is done on the course. By rushing to finish a round men run the risk of insulting our business associates. This could have catastrophic effects one of which might result into a lower household income. This neither good for you or for us. I think that its important to understand the significance this game has in our lives.

Ladies I promise you by following these four simple rules you will have a happy and long relationship with your significant other. And if any of the steps from 1-3 get mundane or monotonous please feel free to do them wearing either a French maids out fit or bikini with high heels.
